Description:
We will explore Neuromuscular Therapy and how it can help to relieve Headache, Migraine, and Whiplash symptoms. Students will learn:
Anatomy, physiology and Trigger-point pain referral patterns of the affected muscles that contribute to the symptomology
Indications and contraindications of working with Headache, Migraines and Whiplash.
Trauma considerations and the importance of respectful, and gentle therapy techniques when addressing the neck and shoulders, especially soon after a whiplash injury.
The instructor will demonstrate the NMT techniques and a 50/60 Minute Head & Neck Focus Massage Protocol. Students will give and receive a one hour Head & Neck Focus Massage incorporating Neuromuscular Massage techniques with a partner. We will discuss other available therapies and the importance of knowing when to refer to other healthcare providers when necessary.
Learning Outcomes:
Students will demonstrate proficiency in an upper body Neuromuscular massage focusing on head and neck for the purpose of relieving headaches, migraines and/or whiplash symptoms.
