Elise McCutcheon (EmOcean) was born and raised in San Diego California has been practicing Hatha Yoga since she was 16 years old. She began working with her yoga instructor Jerome Gross (Effulgence Yoga Therapy) to bring children’s yoga into the public alternative schools. They started an organization called California School Fitness in 2001 were they brought children’s yoga to severely emotionally disturbed youth and to after school programs around the city.
In 2005 she moved to the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean to attend the University of the Virgin Islands and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She brought her knowledge of children’s yoga to the youth at Kidscope, a counseling center for abused young women. After her first yoga class with the girls, a mute child spoke her first words in 9 years. Elise knew she was on the right path. Elise continued to teach yoga, swimming, snorkeling and art to the girls for the next 2 1/2 years. She taught yoga to the men’s and woman’s basketball team at UVI. She taught art and yoga therapy at an alternative high school. She also filmed her yoga video at Sapphire beach in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
In Winter of 2009 she followed the wind to East Africa to teach Art and Yoga Therapy to HIV positive children and families in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. She participated in numerous art shows and events while in Kenya and was ever humbled by her life there. From 2010 to 2012 she was cruising the Caribbean Sea, teaching art and yoga to children and crew members on the largest cruise ship in the world, The Allure of the Seas. In 2010 she trained as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and facilitated the Children’s Yoga Summer Camp at Synergy Yoga in South Beach Miami. She later studied and received her License at Educating Hand School of Massage in Miami Beach. She was inspired to have found her healing powers of touch. It was her new-found purpose to help heal others from chronic physical and emotional pain. Elise decided to dedicate her life to healing others.
In 2012 she became a certified Ayurveda Yoga Therapist from the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas and in 2015 a WATSU Aquatic Bodywork Therapist (Water Shiatsu) offering her clients a unique floating massage experience in the water. She specializes in Thai yoga massage, Ayurvedic detox massage, Aquatic massage, Himalayan Salt Stone massage and massage and yoga therapy retreats. She offers a variety of specialty yoga classes like, Aqua Yoga in the pool, Ying Yang Yoga for partners, Pre/Postnatal yoga, children’s yoga, mommy and me yoga with her toddler and individual sessions of Ayurveda Yoga Therapy. In 2020 she trained in Medical Massage for chronic pain management. Elise puts pure love and empathy in her art as well as her therapeutic healing services, utilizing all of the elements of life and love to assist you to find your true balance. Art from the Heart.
